Frequently Asked Questions
Scheduling an Appointment
How do I schedule an appointment?
The easiest way to get started is to schedule an online consultation here. Alternatively, you may call or text (734) 489-1528
Do you have a waitlist?
We have therapists who are taking new clients! There are some members of our team who have a waitlist. If you’d like to join the waitlist, you may do so here.
Do you take my insurance?
You can find a list of insurances we accept here. While this information is generally correct, every plan is different and we cannot guarantee that your sessions will be covered. Once you have a consultation with a therapist, they will give you the information you need to call your insurance and get further information about pricing and coverage.
Starting therapy
How does this work?
You’ve already done the hardest part which is finding a great therapist! From here, you can reach out with any questions you have or get started with a consultation call. Once you have a call with a therapist, they will schedule an intake and send you some paperwork to fill out online.
What can I expect from a consultation call?
A consultation is a great way to get a feel for a therapist and answer any questions you have about therapy. Be prepared to discuss your insurance plan and typical schedule. Ask your therapists any questions you have about them, their experience, and therapeutic style. Your therapist will ask for some information as well such as what you’d like to work on and whether you’ve ever been in therapy before. Check out these tips for finding the right fit!
What can I expect in a therapy session?
Our therapists tailor each session to you and your specific treatment goals. However, here are some things you can expect when you start therapy:
Intake: Your first few appointments will be spent getting to know you and your goals. Be prepared to speak about why you are starting therapy, previous treatment, current relationships, ongoing symptoms, and what you’d like to achieve.
Treatment planning: You and your therapist will work on setting achievable, measurable goals for therapy. These goals will help guide your sessions and track progress. Be prepared to check in on your goals every 3-6 months.
Ongoing sessions: Most sessions with your therapist will include checking in on how you’re doing, following up on any homework or skill practice, and discussing ongoing symptoms and treatment goals.
Do you use AI? Are my sessions recorded?
EMH understands that we serve vulnerable populations and care deeply about guarding their privacy. We are proud to say that we do not use AI (artificial intelligence) in any form to complete documentation, schedule clients, or complete other client-centered tasks. We do not record any sessions, even temporarily.
Telehealth
Does Telehealth work as well as in-person therapy?
Science says yes! We think so too. Telehealth is more accessible; you can show up despite bad weather, low energy, and lack of transportation. Our therapists are experts in delivering online therapy and know all the tips and tricks to create an engaging, safe, and effective experience. There are some circumstances where clients may be a better fit for in-person care and in those cases, we will work with clients to find a better fit.
How do I join my appointment?
You will receive a text and/or email link to our HIPPA compliant, secure video appointment the day before you are scheduled to meet. To join the session, simply click the link at the time of your appointment! If you have any trouble, you can message your therapist through the client portal or via email/text. In cases of unresolved tech issues, your therapist may choose to conduct the session over the phone or reschedule.
What do I need to join an appointment?
A consistent internet connection and quiet, private space is required for therapy sessions. Appointments can be accessed from a phone or computer.
